This policy explains what licenseedata.com ("we") collects from people who use the License Directory and how that data is used. Listings themselves come from public records and are covered separately below.

What we collect

  • Accounts: your username, email address and a secure hash of your password, if you create an account.
  • Correction and removal requests: the record concerned, the action you ask for, your connection to the record, your message, and our decision.
  • Emails you send us: your address and whatever you write.
  • Server logs: our servers record technical details of requests, such as the page requested and the time, to keep the site running and secure.

We use this data to run the site, answer requests and prevent abuse. We do not sell your account details or messages.

Cookies

We use a cookie to keep you signed in and another to protect forms against forgery. Third parties, including Google, may also place and read cookies on your browser, or use web beacons and IP addresses, to collect information as described below.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how the site is used. It collects information such as your browser, device, approximate location and the sections you visit. We replace page addresses and titles with generic versions before they are sent, so that searched names and individual listings are not included. You can opt out with Google's opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising

We may show ads served by Google and other third-party vendors. These vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this and other sites.

You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings, and opt out of some other vendors' cookies at aboutads.info. Google explains how it uses data from sites that use its services. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland, analytics and advertising cookies are used only if you agree to them.

Who we share data with

We share data with Google as described above, with the companies that host and run our services, and where the law requires it or it is needed to protect our rights or users.

Public records in the directory

Listings, including names and license details, are republished from the public lists of licensing agencies, and the About page names each source. If you are listed, you can ask us to correct or remove the listing. Removing it here does not change the agency's own records.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep account and request data while your account is open and for as long as we need it to handle your requests, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. To see, correct or delete your data, or to close your account, email admin@licenseedata.com. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local privacy law.

Children

The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
